What do I need to know about crossing Israeli-Jordanian borders?
There are a number of crossings between Israel, the Israeli controlled West Bank, and Jordan. Knowing which crossing to use and the various requirements can be confusing. The most important thing to know that many people have problems with is that Allenby (King Hussein) Bridge crossing is not an official border. Jordan will not issue a visa to people traveling from the West Bank to Jordan. If you arrive in the region in Jordan and plan to travel to Israel/Palestine and then return to Jordan it is best to obtain a multi-entry Jordanian visa to avoid problems at Allenby.
For additional information the US Consulate has created this fact sheet with information on all the Israel-Jordan crossings: http://jerusalem.usconsulate.gov/pdfs/crossings_israel-jordan_2007.pdf
