Lucius Battle Alumni Fellowship

This is the application form for the Lucius Battle Peace Fellows Leadership Award. This fellowship is intended specifically for participants who have all ready participated in the Palestine Summer Encounter program and wish to return as leaders/mentors for a new group of volunteers. The fellowship covers the entire cost of the mentor's program, but the work load can be quite intense. Recipients serve as the main coordinators for the summer encounter program, working alongside Holy Land Trust staff in Bethlehem.

Discuss Mr. Awad's views of nonviolence. What are the specific challenges you see inherent in a nonviolent movement within the Palestinian context? Is a nonviolent strategy realistic? Do you find support for nonviolence within your own faith tradition? : *

In your answer you may also feel free to focus on any of the following areas: nonviolence and culture, nonviolence and religion or the concept of "surplus powerlessness" (mentioned in the Tikkun article).

These can be former or current employers, teachers, volunteer supervisors or anyone else who you think might be able to give us a sense of your work ethic, standard of behavior, willingness to work across cultural divides, etc.
