Lucius Battle Peace Fellowship Application


This an application for the Lucius Battle Peace Fellows program. You are NOT required to fill out this form unless you are applying for a fellowship. All applicants, including those applying for a fellowship, must also still fill out the normal Palestine Summer Encounter application. Lucius Battle Fellowships are granted on the basis of both need and merit but are intended for those who would otherwise have extreme difficulty paying the full program fees. Please give DETAILED answers to the questions below. Most fellowships are awarded to recipients in the amount of $1,000. This amount is applied directly to the cost of your program. Only a limited number of scholarships are available.

All Fellowship recipients are expected to develop a post trip project once they have returned home. This could include anything from public presentations on your trip, an art exhibit, a film showing, writing articles for a blog or local newspaper, a musical performance, etc. Please be detailed. If you plan to speak publicly where will you speak? If you plan to submit articles where will you submit them?

In your answer you may also feel free to focus on any of the following areas: nonviolence and culture, nonviolence and religion or the concept of "surplus powerlessness" (mentioned in the Tikkun article).

In addition to filling out the application form we require at least one, but preferably two, letters of recommendation. These can be former or current employers, teachers, volunteer supervisors or anyone else who you think might be able to give us a sense of your work ethic, standard of behavior, willingness to work across cultural divides, etc.
